In response to James Pritchett’s call to limit blame for the New Zealand shooting, the prime suspect’s own words make it clear that President Donald Trump and his apologists are very much also to blame (“Don’t blame Trump for New Zealand shootings,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, March 16).
Their brand of belittling fear-mongering emboldens the disgruntled, providing the triggers for them to act out their frustrations. It is appropriate and necessary to hold Trump and associates responsible, to highlight their hypocrisy in calling for prayers to correct the atrocities they promote.
Remember: When asked what he would do about domestic terrorism during the presidential debates, Trump refused to answer and has continued to deny the danger of white supremacists, including in the current situation.
