Our country has 4 percent of the world’s population and almost half of the world’s firearms.
Although most are suicides, approximately 100 of our fellow citizens die every day at the hands of someone holding a firearm. We may not be the most violent nation, but we are a violent nation.
When military-style weapons or assault rifles are used to kill people, especially with high-capacity magazines, more people die than if they are not used, even if it is only one nut who is holding the weapon.
Maybe New Zealand can be a role model for our nation in showing us how to use common sense to reduce mass killings.
