The unaffordable planned rail system to Ala Moana Center needs to end at Middle Street. Mayor Kirk Caldwell promised to build the rail better, but has failed.
It is time to cut our losses and salvage what we can to make it viable. Otherwise, the whole project will become roadkill and unusable in its entirety. The recent news that the rail cars failed fire tests raises questions about the project’s viability.
There is so much uncertainty about every aspect of the funding and construction of the project up to Middle Street; hoping that solutions will emerge for its completion to Ala Moana Center is insane.
