Are city officials hearing the concerns of the people? Before they take on new projects, they need to take care of things that need to be fixed before they become major problems with higher costs.
They should think about the average taxpayer. The rail was a big mistake; the city lacked the funds to finish the project.
Now the Legislature wants a wage increase when lawmakers already are making big bucks — another thing that increases our taxes (“Hawaii commission proposes pay raises for elected officials,” Star-Advertiser, March 27). The people are being taxed to death and it’s no wonder many are leaving the islands, as they can’t afford to live here.
Another big problem is the terrible traffic that will continue to worsen if construction permits continue to be issued for condos, which means more cars. Our roads and freeways are not adequate to handle more traffic.
I hope officials will think of the taxpayers before making new laws and regulations. Let us continue to enjoy what’s left of our island paradise.
