Alexander & Baldwin Inc. continued its buying spree of industrial real estate on Oahu with the purchase of 36 acres used by the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation to mold concrete.
The Honolulu-based real estate investment trust said it completed the purchase Wednesday for $41 million.
Under the deal, the city has use of the property through 2025 for fabricating and storing precast concrete components for its rail guide way system.
A&B earlier this year bought a 93,000-square-foot warehouse complex in Kapolei for $26.5 million and a 150,000-square-foot Kapolei warehouse for $40 million.
The three purchases, along with the acquisition of land under a Home Depot store in Iwilei for $42 million, were made with proceeds from A&B’s December sale of 41,000 acres of Maui farmland for $262 million. The acquisitions allow the company to avoid being taxed on the Maui farmland sale because proceeds are reinvested in other real estate.
