I fully agree with U.S. Sen. Mazie Hirono (“Trump and his sycophants must be challenged,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, May 8). President Donald Trump must be challenged. He has acted in an unprecedented manner by showing a total lack of respect for Congress. The Democrats appear flummoxed by his behavior; it makes them appear weak. At least Hirono is standing up and calling it like it is.

With many departments depleted or manned by Trump toadies, I think we should beware of any emergency declarations like a war with Iran, or interference in Venezuela. Trump could say we can’t have elections because we are in a state of emergency and could seize even more power.

Trump recently said he should have another two years in power because of the Mueller investigation.

Democrats, don’t let this happen. Stand up like Mazie!
