Why can’t people who rent out living spaces on a temporary basis rent to local citizens as a regular rental? We need places to live!
Are the bed-and-breakfast operators greedy? Have they not managed their finances well, such as purchasing a property they knew they could not afford? Do they do this instead of working at a job?
I could rent out the downstairs of my house to visitors, and probably make a bundle. But I don’t. It would be a violation against my neighbors and I would be ashamed to do it. I earn my money by working (very hard) as a public-school teacher.
I value my neighbors and their right to have stability and trust in the community immediately surrounding them. I like the fact that the people who live around me are invested in keeping our micro-community safe and free of extra traffic and unwanted, unpredictable activity.
