It was a beautiful and fitting sentiment expressed by Meaghan Mobbs to “honor the sacrifice and service of those who have gone before while realizing the promise of an even brighter future” (“The true meaning of Memorial Day: those who fell in war,” Star-Advertiser, May 25).
It is indeed a kind of Memorial Day every day for all those who have gone before — those who have given their last full measure of devotion, in addition to those who have borne the battle and now actively continue their service and sacrifices.
We can better ensure that brighter future by engaging in various service endeavors and sharing the burden to realize those values and precepts, which can again be more meaningful.
