An estimated 50,000 people were expected on Ala Moana Beach to celebrate the Lantern Floating Ceremony on Memorial Day.
Those who oppose holding the ceremony on this day can gain a better view of the big picture of this event. It is a ceremony where all can come together for a personal and collective moment of remembrance, reflection and gratitude for those who have gone before us.
We are strengthened as a community as we reach out to support others and understand our common values. Many foreigners travel to attend this solemn occasion.
