A 2019 Memorial Day thought: The quiet waters of Pearl Harbor gives one a chance to reflect on the enormity of the loss on that fateful day, Dec. 7, 1941.
Yet with today’s conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere, I am reminded again of these losses. I toured the recent display of thousands of boots on Ford Island, each represented a service member killed. It was a stunning and moving reminder that freedom isn’t free, and that payment in full was made by our brave men and women of our U.S. armed forces.
We as a nation salute you. You have our heartfelt gratitude.
May you all rest in God’s peace.
