Increasingly we read in this newspaper about how local and national politicians are struggling to contend with the crises of our warming planet. Where’s the money for mitigation, repairs, renovations, the unknowns to come?
Well, the money is there in Congress, where our leaders continue to approve tens of billions of dollars every year to subsidize the extractions of fossil fuels.
If our politicians cannot shift those subsidies from oil, coal and gas to clean, renewable energy sources, then we need to elect better leaders — and the sooner the better.
