Now that we are past the Kealoha trial (“Kealohas guilty,” Star-Advertiser, June 28), let us join in supporting our police. Police work is not just law enforcement; it’s a big part of the front line in social work.
Many people may have lost confidence in government and authority, but that usually reflects a failure of policy and leadership at the higher levels. It doesn’t mean that we should scapegoat those who do the day-to-day work and eat the risk.
Same thing with our military. Politicians and top military brass get us into war, but the serving line soldiers always deserve respect.
