‘Safe house’ residents and workers say city retaliated against them for speaking to authorities in corruption probe

Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell said his administration is pursuing plans to convert a safe house complex to housing for homeless families, particularly women with children. The safe house, operated by the Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney and set aside for victims of domestic violence, is set to close the end of August.
