This is about pedestrians crossing intersections in crosswalks and getting hit by vehicles.
The population of people and cars using the streets is growing steadily and more accidents are happening. If the speed limit is not enforced, this will be an ongoing problem no matter what improvements are implemented to help pedestrians cross streets safely.
Police should cite any vehicles going over any posted speed limit. Police should not allow vehicles to go 5 to 10 miles over the speed limit like it has been for years.
Vehicles not speeding could stop more quickly and not run stop signs or stoplights. Enforcing speed limit will make Hawaii a safer place to drive and walk. When you drive at a posted speed limit, do you have a car tailing close behind you? It happens quite often to me.
Many drivers will drive over posted speed limit because the posted speed limit is not enforced.
