It is good to read that Mayor Kirk Caldwell was in Washington, D.C., talking about climate change (“Mayor is in capital to talk climate change,” Star-Advertiser, July 17).
While he was gone, someone on his staff decided to clean up the mess caused by the new bulky-item pickup “plan.” Now sidewalks in Makiki can be used again since they aren’t blocked by piles of trash.
Maybe if the mayor stays on the road, mundane matters (such as multiplying mattresses) will be solved by his staff.
