Again, I am perplexed by the short-sightedness of our local government when it comes to the new bulky item pickup appointment system. If the original system had been run efficiently and on time, maybe there would be no need for overtime. That will never be stated by the city, of course.
That is the reason, not some slimming of the system, for all of this. Now, folks in the affected areas will respond just as a human would. They will begin to break down discarded items and put them in any color bin, and the overtime will take place anyway as employees sort through what doesn’t belong in any bin.
I see it happening in my neighborhood. I’m sure others have already realized that they will be able to get around it and just put the stuff where it doesn’t belong. Drivers never check what they pick up anyway, so, “it ain’t me”…
