I strongly support the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope. The large group of supporters at a recent state Capitol rally included many Hawaiians. Do the opponents speak for all Hawaiians?
I am a resident of this state. The project will be on public lands — our lands! There is much that is unique about Hawaii, including our ability to explore outer space. We were honored to be selected for this most valuable opportunity. Do the opponents speak for all Hawaii residents?
I am an American. As we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our landing on the moon, we are proud that the U.S. was chosen for a project that will further enhance our reputation as the leader in space technology.

I am a citizen of the planet Earth. TMT will increase our understanding of the universe, most certainly leading to scientific advances and a better quality of life for the 7.7 billion of us. Do the opponents speak for all mankind?
