It is time to get serious about guns in America. Time to ignore the arguments, such as the Second Amendment, or background checks leading to taking away everyone’s guns, or guns don’t kill people, cars kill more. Or blaming immigrants, blaming white nationalists, blaming somebody!

And “good guys with guns?” Think of the crossfire consequences that people legally carrying guns in El Paso had to consider if they drew their guns.

How well do these arguments work when citizens bearing arms continue to kill and maim innocent people?

It is time to stop talking in circles. We must attack this issue on all fronts. Repeal the Second Amendment, require background checks, ban assault weapons, ban all weapons from public spaces, repeal “open carry” laws, remove from public office all those with a passing National Rifle Association grade. Whatever it takes. Enough prayers, enough talk. It is time to act.
