Regarding the many development projects that are going on in the Kakaako/Ala Moana area: I think it is scandalous that the leaders in our government are issuing building permits to these developers to build their high-priced condominiums and apartments.
Who can really afford them? I’m certain the kamaaina cannot, much less the kanaka. The only people who can afford them are rich offshore investors from Japan, China and the mainland.
This area is already a traffic nightmare. Flooding is always a huge problem when it rains. Let’s not forget the homeless who are “living” in the area.
Seriously, why can’t our leaders and developers put their collective heads together and come up with a plan to build truly affordable housing that the working locals can afford.
