Thank you for giving adequate space in your columns on the bulky-item pickup saga.

Lee Cataluna described what the taxpayers are experiencing across the island (“Wait, who is going to catch illegal dumpers?,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 16). This pilot experiment really is a ploy to make us so miserable that the mayor hopes that we will fall to our knees and ask to go back to the old way. And we will pay more taxes.

Mayor Kirk Caldwell should cut to the chase and increase taxes if that is the real problem. Stop making us miserable. There are many more pressing issues that really need more attention.
