No entity or individual should ever be forced or pressured into any situation, especially when Mayor Kirk Caldwell is involved.
A detailed master plan for protecting the upper watersheds should have been prepared long ago for the Army Corps of Engineers and the affected community neighborhood boards to view (“Honolulu City Council is pressured to support Ala Wai flood project,” Star-Advertiser, Aug. 20).
It sounds absolutely fishy when the word “pressure” is inserted. It is the people’s agenda that requires the Council’s utmost consideration, a safety issue that could save lives in the years to come.
