Mayor Kirk Caldwell is obviously delusional if he feels the bulky item pickup is going well. He was actually behind my building on Nohonani Street recently looking at how well it was going. There were mattresses, discarded french fries and other debris piled up in front of our building, items that did not come from our condo and none of it there on our once-a-month pickup day. Hmmm.
To avoid being fined by the city again, we had to install cameras in that area. It can help us a little, but the people who illegally dump there don’t leave their name and contact information with their trash.
That being said, I wonder if the city would consider picking up the trash that the homeless population distribute around the area? I don’t think tents, food dishes, hibachis, stolen grocery carts, blankets and other debris are allowable on tree lawns, sidewalks and in parks.
