Queen’s Medical Center to develop new West Oahu clinic

The Queen’s Medical Center announced Friday the acquisition of 4.9 acres in Kapolei with aims of creating a new medical clinic at the entrance to the developing Ho‘opili subdivision.

Preliminary plans for the clinic, according to Queen’s, include “a total concept” from wellness activities to urgent care and medical serv­ices such as team-based primary care, specialty serv­ices and support services such as diagnostic imaging, pharmacy and lab.

The facility will be near the University of Hawaii- West Oahu rail station.

To date, approximately 567 homes have been sold at Ho‘opili, a master-planned community expected to have 11,750 homes when completed. The plan also calls for 3 million square feet of commercial space, five schools and 200 acres of farmland.

“The possibilities for enhanced medical services they will provide to our residents and the greater Ewa region are endless. This is a big win for West Oahu,” Bob Bruhl, president of D.R. Horton Hawaii, said in a news release.

Bernadette Merlino, Queen’s vice president for ambulatory care, said Queen’s is committed to providing services that promote health, wellness and quality medical care in a healing environment.

“The vision of Ho‘opili to develop a community that has access to all types of services close to home resonates with our vision of providing health care close to home. Queen’s commitment to expand services in West Oahu is also demonstrated by the anticipated expansion of The Queen’s Medical Center-West Oahu,” Merlino said.
