We know little about the gunman who just went on a random shooting spree in Texas. It is assumed he is a U.S. citizen whose right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.
We can speculate all we want about how many hours he may have spent playing violent video games; we can only guess about his mental state and motive, and wonder what factors in his life could have brought him to carry out such a horrible act against innocent people.
We can propose background checks, red flag laws, banning certain types of guns and more. But as long as the Second Amendment assures that any rational attempt to reduce gun violence in America violates a constitutional right, we won’t get very far. Not until the Second Amendment is repealed.
If only there were a politician brave enough to propose it.
