Letter: TMT opponents hurt people they would help

The worst thing that could happen for Native Hawaiians would be for the protesters to succeed in stopping the Thirty Meter Telescope.

Many programs, funds and activities that support the Native Hawaiian community will be under question and some will be stopped or at least experience reduced funding. Any future proposals will be met with strong resistance as people will keep bringing up the TMT.

These protesters are short-sighted as well as selfish. They hurt the very people they claim to help.
