Letter: Congress can still fund Hawaii defense projects

The Star-Advertiser presented the view that “We’ll pay for Trump’s wall” (Week in Review, Sept. 7).

Whether we like it or not, neither Hawaii’s popular nor our Electoral College votes elected Donald Trump. However, Trump was elected to build the wall for the country, not for himself, regardless of who eventually will pay for it.

Hawaii’s defense projects will not pay for the wall, as the paper implies. Our congressional representatives have an option to resubmit the defense projects in the next budget, but they chose not to do so.

Rather than produce “fake news,” our paper should stick to the facts.
