Decency won the day in presidential election
More than a political victory, the election marks a return of common decency.

Biden has no mandate in divided country
President-elect Joe Biden and the Democratic Party have been throwing around words like “mandate,” “unite” and “healing.”
There is no mandate when half the country voted for President Donald Trump. In fact, he received more votes than Barack Obama. Republicans will probably retain control of the Senate and have gained at least seven seats in the House. In addition, the GOP now controls both state legislative chambers in 32 states. There is no mandate.
The Democrats vilify Trump for not accepting the results of the election. This from the party who called President Trump “illegitimate” and planned on impeaching him before he even spent one day in office. They launched a Russian collusion investigation, which went nowhere.
Both of these actions were attempts to undo the election of a sitting president and greatly divided the country. It will take much more than worn-out rhetoric to bring this country together.

Trump about to become the biggest loser of all
Donald Trump views “losers” as the worst people on Earth, yet he has been a loser all his life. His niece in her book exposed that he has been a failure in business all his life. Only his father’s money kept him from being exposed.
When he loses, he resorts to lawsuits in order to intimidate his opponents. He has a pathological fear of being exposed as a loser, but now he is the biggest loser of all.
This explains his failure to concede defeat. Once his tax returns expose how more of a loser he is, he will probably become even a bigger loser when New York indicts him for tax fraud.
Donald Trump is finished, and the sooner Republicans understand this the better for the country.

Biden simply supports women’s right to choose
Rosalie Tadda takes exception toward Joe Biden being a Catholic while supporting abortion rights (“Biden doesn’t represent Catholic view of abortion,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Nov. 12). Tadda’s faith certainly has taught her that she is in no position to cast scorn and judgment on others.
For Biden to support a woman’s right to choose does not mean that Biden would support that right on a personal level. It only means he supports the right for Americans to have the freedom to make that decision for themselves.
