Woman critically hurt after crashing into tree on Round Top Drive

A 39-year-old woman was critically injured Sunday evening when the vehicle she was driving on Round Top Drive in Makiki crashed into a tree.

At about 6 p.m., the woman was traveling north on Round Top Drive “when for unknown reasons, she traveled off of the roadway onto the unimproved shoulder and struck a tree,” according to a news release from the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services paramedics treated the victim and took her to a hospital in critical condition, HPD said.

She was not wearing a seat belt, police said. Speed was not a factor in the crash but it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors, according to HPD.
