Trevor Ozawa might have been slow to appeal Tommy Waters being on the ballot, but the law is the law (“Ozawa challenge takes advantage of timeline,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Aug. 17). Judge James Ashford ruled Waters ineligible for a third term. The City Charter clearly limits running for more than two consecutive terms. Where was the corporation counsel when Waters filed to run with the City Clerk?
Why do old haole men (I can comment on being an old haole because I am one) think they should stay in office forever? We have too many old men staying in office for too long. This country was formed by reluctant citizens who only got into politics at the request of others, then gladly got out. Bring in young people with new ideas.
I think Waters only wants to hang on two more years so he will still be in the public eye to run for mayor in 2028. He should just take up knitting.
