Suspect, 33, arrested in Ewa Beach shooting
A 33-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with the shooting of a 31-year-old man in Ewa Beach.
Officers were notified at about 4:53 a.m. on Oct. 6 that the victim had been taken to a hospital with an apparent gunshot wound, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
Investigators determined that the victim and the suspect were involved in an altercation on Papipi Road, where the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the victim, shot him once in the chest and fled, according to HPD.
Police recovered a weapon and identified it as a compressed-air pellet rifle, HPD said.
With assistance from the department’s Strategic Enforcement Detail and District 8 Crime Reduction Unit, the suspect surrendered at about 1:26 p.m. Thursday and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.
Charges are pending. Police said no additional information would be released at this time.
