Honolulu firefighters extinguish Kapahulu house fire and revive Great Dane found inside

Honolulu firefighters extinguished a fire at a Kapahulu home and revived a Great Dane found inside this morning.
Nearly 40 firefighters responded to 3515 Alohea Ave. located near Diamond Head at about 9:45 a.m.
When they arrived, they observed smoke and flames emerging from the main unit on the ground floor of the two-story home, according to Louise McCoy, Honolulu Fire Department spokeswoman.
The address includes three separate rental units.

Troy Williams, 35, of Alakona Corp., was working on a road resurfacing project in the area when he smelled smoke.
He sprinted about 200 feet toward the home once he saw smoke emerging from the windows. “My natural reaction was to help,” Williams said.
He entered the home and pounded on doors and alerted a male resident of the fire
No injuries were reported.
Honolulu firefighters also found a Great Dane inside the main unit.
The dog was initially unresponsive until firefighters administered oxygen. The Hawaiian Humane Society responded to care for the dog.
Three men and two women reside in the rental units. The American Red Cross is assisting affected residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $270,000 to the structure and its contents.
