Kaanapali neighborhood evacuated due to wildfire
Maui Emergency Management Agency issued an evacuation order for residents of Anapuni Loop to West Mahi Puu Place in the Kaanapali area of West Maui Saturday afternoon.

The crew at Wash Pros Ka'napali at Fairway Shops continued to fold clothes despite a power outage due to the brush fire near Kaanapali Golf Estates. The family-run laundromat and laundry service has been donating their services to those affected by the Lahaina fire and had processed about 250 loads of laundry in the past five days.

Members of the Pua'a, Casco, Naki-Ka'auwai and Gonzalez families gathered at Napili Park on Saturday. The families are all evacuees from Lahaina staying at separate hotels and went to Napili Park when the fire broke out above Kaanapali Golf Estates. "Our anxiety is through the roof. So, we are just going to stay here. We take no chances," said Leilani Casco who is pictured standing at the center.

A resident wept as Maui firefighters battle a wildfire above her home in Lanikeha on Saturday. She said that a worker from the Kaanapali Golf Estates went door to door in a golf cart alerting residents to evacuate. She and her husband grabbed their pets and assisted their elderly neighbor, who doesn't drive, and evacuated to Kaanapali Beach Resort to watch the fire from afar.
