U.S. Navy Reserve Ensign Harold Patrick DeMoss, above and lower left at right, was lost when his F6F-3 Hellcat fighter plane went down on June 23, 1945, in the Koolau Mountains, seven miles from Kahuku Point. Family members are hoping his remains can be recovered from the remote site 66 years later.
