Trial begins for man accused of murdering, dismembering drug partner

Nelson Daranciang

The murder trial for one of two men accused of killing their partner in an indoor marijuana growing operation, dismembering the body and disposing of it in the trash, got under way this afternoon in state court.

Joshua Williams, 26, is on trial for the April 7, 2010, killing of 24-year-old Jamil Khan.

Williams is expected to testify that he and Michael Connolly, 25, killed Khan in self-defense, after Khan pointed an AK-47 assault rifle at them.

The state says Williams was upset with Khan for draining the business and talked about getting rid of him in the months leading up to the killing.

Connolly is scheduled to stand trial for murder in February.
