Man arrested for allegedly taking cell phone from union rep

A 42-year-old Punchbowl man was arrested today after he allegedly robbed a union representative at a work site in Waikiki.

Police said the man was confronted by a 27-year-old man checking the work site for union members about 8:50 a.m.

He took the younger man’s phone and assaulted him when he tried to get it back, police said.

Officers arrested the older man about an hour later at Ilikai Hotel, 1777 Ala Moana Blvd., near the scene of the incident. The man was booked for investigation of second-degree robbery.

Police said the younger man got his phone back.
