UH-Manoa sees building boom

2012 July 29 - CTY - Honolulu-based dck pacific construction, LLC, a dck worldwide company, has been awarded a $41.7 million contract to build an Information Technology Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Construction has begun on the six-story, 74,000-square-foot building.The building will provide a centralized facility for the university's system-wide Information Technology Services (ITS) division. It will include a data center featuring an 8,000-square-foot machine room for enterprise servers, storage and communications, an emergency situation room to support UH disaster response, a Help Desk, media development capacity, meeting and training rooms with teleconferencing capability, and a modern workspace for ITS staff. HSA photo by Jim Borg UH UHM Huge cranes are dominating the skyline of the University of Hawaii at Manoa this summer as the campus undergoes $137.5 million worth of construction and renovation. Chief among the projects is a $42-million Information Technology Center, a six-story, 74,000-square-foot building that will house a state-of-the-art and energy-efficient data center. Also due to be completed next spring is the renovation and expansion of the Campus Center, a $28-million project that includes a two-story recreation center on the Diamond Head side of the Campus Center.
