HIFF WEEK?KICKOFF: HIFF staffer Anna Page greeted Italian writer/director Luca Barbareschi as he arrived for the Hawaii premiere of his new film, “Something Good,” Oct. 11 at Dole Cannery Stadium 18. Barbareschi also stars in this gripping tale of the clandestine multibillion-dollar business of selling spoiled, contaminated or adulterated food products.

HIFF WEEK?KICKOFF: Hawaii International Film Festival Executive Director Chuck Boller, left, welcomed entrepreneur Yue-Sai Kan, HIFF board member Kristen Chan and Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell to the opening reception of HIFF 2013 on Oct. 10 at the Halekulani. This year’s festival is Boller’s most elaborate yet, with 209 films from 42 countries and an additional schedule of panel discussions and social events.
