“We opened
Selective Stone to satisfy the need for stone countertops at affordable prices in the
State of Hawaii,” explains managing director
Kevin Nip.
“We saw that countertops in stone were only offered in full slabs that needed to be cut to size and fabricated. Hence, we decided to take a look at the overall market and create standard dimensions that had a prefabricated edge in an overseas factory. By doing this, we were able to cut the cost of fabrication by at least half.”
Since its start, Selective Stone has been an ohana-run company, serving the local people with aloha and dedication to a successful job. Selective Stone’s motto, “The Pioneers in the Pre-Fab Industry,” emanates from a decision to expand its mission from working entirely with stone and its residential demands to also prefabricating engineered quartz stone and increasing its market to large-scale projects in Hawaii.
Along with residential projects, Selective Stone confidently boasts a large portfolio of commercial assignments as well, including Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel, Ala Moana Shopping Center’s Center Stage, Grand Hyatt Kauai, Hyatt Waikiki, Waikiki Marriott and the Villages at Mauna Lani, to name a few.
“Selective Stone has changed tremendously since its inception,” says Nip. “We have become a full-service flooring and countertop supply company that has a full line of stone, porcelain and ceramic tiles for both interior and exterior applications.”
