The 21-year-old woman accused of damaging a 130-year-old glass door at Iolani Palace two months ago entered a plea of not guilty Monday in Circuit Court to criminal property damage and burglary.
Drew Paahau is scheduled for trial the week of June 23 before Circuit Judge Rom Trader.
Paahau remains in custody at Oahu Community Correctional Center unable to post $25,000 bond.
An Oahu grand jury April 10 indicted Paahau for first-degree criminal property damage, a Class B felony that carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and a $25,000 fine. She also was indicted on a charge of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony with a maximum imprisonment of five years and a $10,000 fine.
In the indictment, Paahau is accused of breaking into the palace Feb. 8 and damaging the glass front door.
The repair could cost as much as $15,000, authorities have said.
Surveillance cameras captured images of a woman kicking a door on the front of the palace with enough force to open it and break its glass pane.
The cameras then captured images of the woman and a man entering the palace’s Great Hall and attempting to flee as palace guards pursued and captured them.
The 30-year-old man with Paahau was not charged.
