Shark warning signs were removed from Kaimana Beach in Waikiki on Monday morning after no shark was spotted in the area in the aftermath of a sighting on Sunday.
The signs were posted after an 8- to 10-foot tiger shark was seen in the area just before 5 p.m. Sunday.
An Ocean Safety official said the shark was not aggressive, and all the surfers in the area were able to safely leave the water.
Suspect sought in assault of victim in Hilo
Police are searching for a 31-year-old man for questioning in connection with an assault that left a 49-year-old man with critical head injuries Saturday.
According to police, the victim was found unconscious in a parking lot on Hema Street in Hilo. Witnesses said the man had been fighting with another man, who had left the area prior to the arrival of police.
Police are looking for Kallen Imade, whose last known address was in Mountain View. He is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Father-and-son duo charged with robbery
Big Island police have charged a Kailua-Kona father and son in connection with the robbery of a hitchhiker in Kona on Wednesday, police said Monday.
According to police, two men picked up a male hitchhiker on Alii Drive and threatened to stab him in the neck unless he handed over the contents of his pockets. The victim gave the suspects a cellphone, cigarettes, a lighter and cash. The suspects then ordered him out of the vehicle.
The victim was able to provide the license plate number and a description of the SUV the suspects used.
Robert Deleon, 43, and his son, Sloan Deleon, 22, both of Kailua-Kona, were charged with first-degree robbery; bail for each was set at $50,000.
