There is a small but powerful Force on the counter of Cake Works in Moiliili.
Standing 2 feet tall, Yoda strikes a commanding pose with his wise eyes looking outward, his pointy green ears and one claw outstretched. He’s clothed in a velvety brown outfit and majestic, white robe.
And, edible he is.
Yoda’s head is sculpted from modeling chocolate, and his body is cake cut to shape and covered in fondant, according to Cake Works chef and owner Abigail Langlas.
The bakery made a smaller version of the cake for a groom’s party last summer and completed the larger version in anticipation of the release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on Friday. Prices range from $500 to $1,500, depending on size.

At least two weeks’ notice is required for the Cake Works bakers to create the custom order. The bakery has fulfilled requests for Millennium Falcon cakes and is also selling “Star Wars”-themed macarons painted with the faces of R2D2, C-3PO, Chewbacca and Storm Troopers for $4 apiece.
Cake Works is at 2820 S. King St. (across from the Hawaiian Humane Society). Call 946-4333 or visit cakeworkshi.com.
