Police called off the search for an Ewa Beach woman and her toddler after they met with the woman’s husband at the zoo.
Apparently the couple had a miscommunication.
Police said the 41-year-old Ewa Beach woman and her 16-month-old toddler had been reported missing Wednesday morning.
Anna Esterer and her daughter, London, reportedly left their Ewa Beach home at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to catch a bus to Waikiki and meet her husband at the Honolulu Zoo.
Police put out an all-points bulletin at 8:37 a.m. today for the two.

In my opinion, the husband should have picked them up or sent a cab. The child was very young. That is my opinion. Many agree with me. But thank God all are safe.

JMO, TheBus is safe, especially midmorning for a mature woman with a toddler on a safe route to town. I’m hoping for a safe return, but I think Mom flew to the Mainland to be with family during the holidays.

allie, how many incidence reports were filed on the Ewa Beach-to-Honolulu run this year, if any? Where would you find police reports of this nature? BTW, a cab ride from Ewa Beach to Honolulu Zoo costs over $75.I like how a poor student casually suggests the woman to hail a cab.

In my opinion, this story sounds somewhat suspicious. Regarding the safety of riding on the The Bus, while it can be somewhat uncomfortable at times, I would appreciate the HPD report that provides data on the number of criminal complaints filed while riding on the TheBus. Please provide link to report. If the number of criminal complaints are excessive then I presume a public warning would be issued to head off any liability for negligence in reporting same.
Umm..you can start by reading the SA as they do include some criminal reports at bus stops and on buses. Sure, compared to LA or SF it might be lower. Does not make it 100% safe. I am amazed that people are not aware of that. Talk to any bus driver or regular rider.
