A 23-year-old man was in critical condition today after falling about 70 feet from a construction crane in Waikiki, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
The incident occurred at 2140 Kuhio Ave. at about 3:15 p.m. Paramedics treated the construction worker and took him to a trauma center.
A 25-story condominium called Four Paddle is located at the site.
Injured hiker airlifted from Manoa trail
Fire rescue crews came to the aid of a hiker who hurt his leg Saturday at Manoa Tunnels Trail.
The Air 1 helicopter and four other units responded to the call at 12:13 p.m.
The first unit arrived at 12:22 p.m., and rescue crews proceeded up the trail on foot while Air 1 conducted an aerial search, Capt. Kevin Mokulehua, Fire Department spokesman, said by email. Air 1 found the hiker and fire personnel went to help him at 1:04 p.m.
The patient was stabilized and airlifted to a landing zone at Manoa Valley District Park, where he was transferred to an ambulance. Fire Department personnel also located the patient’s hiking party and safely escorted them back to the trailhead. No other injuries were reported.
