The University of Hawaii at Manoa held its annual public preview day, "The Manoa Experience," on Saturday with approximately 1,000 people in attendance. The open house offered prospective students an opportunity to stroll the campus, visit departments, meet faculty and students, as well as participate in interactive activities. Keita Moore, a UH Asian-studies student, put his creative touch on a ceramic piece at the Art Department's tent during the event.

The Pacifi c Beach Hotel is undergoing a $115 million renovation and is on track to re-brand itself as the 'Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach this fall. The hotel completed a guest room renovation in December and expects to complete other improvements in phases. This spring the breakfast buffet, renovated Oceanarium, lobby and bar will come back online. A new 18,000-square-foot pool deck and two restaurant concepts by celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto are slated for September completion. The repositioning is the property's first major overhaul in more than 45 years. Construction workers, above, refurbish the Oceanarium.

The Makiki Christian Church glowed from the golden rays of the setting sun on Wednesday. The five-story building is modeled after an early Edo period castle in 16th-century Japan. The historic church on Pensacola Street was built in 1931.11/21

HPR-1 now focuses on local and international news with popular programs and talk shows along with entertainment and a variety of music while HPR-2 is strictly dedicated to classical music. The musician teamed up with the nonprofi t in 2016 in an effort to return restored Kamaka ukulele to schools to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kamaka Hawaii Inc.
