Angela Lee isn’t wasting any time defending her title again.
The ONE women’s world atomweight champion will defend her title against undefeated Brazilian Istela Nunes on May 26 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, Lee’s father, Ken, confirmed Wednesday.
Lee (7-0), a 2014 Mililani alumna, successfully defended her title for the first time with a TKO victory over Jenny Huang at ONE: Warrior Kingdom last Saturday in Bangkok, Thailand, after a 10-month layoff.
Her next fight will take place 76 days later against Nunes, 24, a two-time Muay Thai world champion who is 5-0.
Nunes won her last fight by split decision over Mei Yamaguchi. Lee, 20, became the first female world champion from Hawaii in a major organization with a unanimous decision over Yamaguchi last year.
The fight will be Lee’s seventh with ONE Championship in the past 24 months.
Moore moves on in Australia
Three-time World Surf League champion and Oahu native Carissa Moore dominated her first round matchup with Coco Ho, another Oahu native, at the Roxy Pro Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Moore’s score of 11.10 almost doubled that of Ho’s, who posted a 5.67.
Also advancing was Kauai’s Tatiana Weston-Webb, who scored a first round total of 13.34.
