Nissan North America extended its rebate of $10,000 for a 2017 Nissan Leaf to be available through September.
Extending the rebate for a second time, Nissan is offering Kauai Island Utility Cooperative members a $10,000 rebate off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price on the 2017 Nissan Leaf sedan.
Residents can qualify for the rebate by presenting the member’s KIUC electric bill and the rebate’s flyer. The flyer is available for download at KIUC’s website, www.kiuc.coop.
The offer expires Sept. 30 or until supplies run out. The rebate was originally offered to KIUC members in January and then again in May.
Japanese ocean carrier boosts isle service
Competition is heating up in the Asia-Hawaii ocean shipping market.
Japanese-based carrier Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, or NYK Line, is increasing the frequency of its Asia-Hawaii service to weekly, from every two weeks, beginning with its July 15 departure from Shanghai. The first arrival in Honolulu under the new schedule will be Aug. 3. The company, which made the announcement last month, added two additional ships to its existing three-ship service.
NYK’s announcement came ahead of APL Ltd.’s announcement last week that it will launch Aloha Express, which will connect Central China, South Korea and Japan to Hawaii.
Hilton to manage Hotel del Coronado
CORONADO, Calif. >> California’s Hotel del Coronado, a landmark resort property that’s housed guests along San Diego Bay since 1888, is now a Hilton hotel.
Hilton officials told the Union-Tribune newspaper in San Diego on Tuesday that the company’s physical presence will be understated — no large Hilton marquees will adorn the facade of the famous red-roofed Victorian building.
The 757-room hotel was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977.
