U.S. blames operator for missile defense test failure

U.S. MISSILE DEFENSE AGENCY

An SM-3 Block IIA guided missile interceptor launched from the USS John Paul Jones in a successful test in February off Kauai. The SM-3’s failure in a test in June, also launched from the Pearl Harbor-based destroyer, is being attributed to a sailor’s computer input error, DefenseNews reports.
