OLED display technology overcomes some limits of semiconductors

OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes) use organic polymers rather than inorganic semiconductors to produce light. OLEDs produce light similarly to LEDs, but the differences are many and significant for small displays. An OLED TV’s pixels emit their own light and color, unlike in LED displays where a backlight shines through the pixels to create an image. Attendees marvel at an LG Curved 4K UHD OLED TV at LG and Netflix’s Dare to See OLED event in New York.
