Hawaii Children’s Action Network and the University of Hawaii Center on the Family held a news conference Thursday to share details of the Hawaii Early Learning Needs Assessment. The report finds that despite improved quality and innovation, Hawaii lacks sufficient child care and preschool capacity to meet the community’s needs. Cynthia Larson, program director for the Early Education Center, operated by Seagull Schools, paused with students Amelia Schlais, left, Dexter Muir, Emma LaBarre-Wu and Anaya Fong at the center.
