Defending Big West beach volleyball champion Hawaii, which gets a sneak peak at spring 2019 with matches this weekend at Queen’s Beach, also got a look at fall 2019 with the signing of three high school seniors on Wednesday.

Two had their paperwork cleared through UH compliance: Maia Hannemann, daughter of former Warrior setter Albert, and Canadian Anna Maidment, part of Volleyball Manitoba’s 2018 team of the year with partner Erika Vermette.

The paperwork for a third, Sabrina Hardisty of Scripps Ranch, Calif., was received late Wednesday and expected to be cleared today.

Also expected to join Hawaii as walk-ons are Ili‘hia Huddleston, sister of current SandBow senior Hi‘ilawe from California, and Hilo High’s Laurie McGrath.

UH soccer team signs 7

The Hawaii soccer team signed seven players, including one local prospect, for the 2019 season.

The defender-heavy class is: Kelci Sumida, M, of Moanalua High; Batya Bagulli, F/M, and Malia Faramarzi, M/D, of California; Lia “V” Jimenez, D, of Arizona; Grace Pekovich, M/D, of Idaho; Emily Cottrell, D, of Colorado; and Loren House, D, of Georgia.
